Ventia hits the pitch in pink for Pink Stumps Day

It was their first Pink Stumps Day event but the team at Ventia can’t wait to hit the pitch in pink again after having what Prue Fellowes describes as “such a fun day raising money for a great cause.”
Prue’s mum was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer last year. It was this diagnosis and subsequent meeting with a McGrath Breast Care Nurse that inspired Prue to take the idea of hosting a Pink Stumps Day event to her team at Ventia.
“When Mum was first diagnosed, we all weren’t sure of what was next and what I, as her daughter, should be worried about,” shared Prue. “When I met Mum’s McGrath Breast Care Nurse she explained Mum’s diagnosis, the health risks for me, and what I needed to do to ensure that I could detect anything early. She was so supportive and answered all of our questions.”
Dressed in pink party shirts and tutus, close to 80 team members took to the freshly mowed pitch to show their support and raise funds for families experiencing breast cancer. “We had a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle, some light refreshments, a bit of music, and a whole lot of laughing watching us all try to bat and bowl,” said Prue.
Whether it’s at your office, backyard, school or cricket ground, there is no better time to host a Pink Stumps Day. By hitting the pitch in pink this summer, you’ll be helping to ensure no one misses out on the care of a breast care nurse.
