McGrath Breast Care Nurses are here to help you every step of the way

A breast cancer diagnosis can be a confusing and difficult time. It can lead to other stresses in your life. Our nurses recognise that you don’t just need help with cancer treatment, but at times, you may need support for the way breast cancer impacts the rest of your life. A McGrath Breast Care Nurse provides support so that you can find time to be yourself again. Some families  call it “cancer-free time”.

Below are some of the ways our Nurses can support you.

Continuity
of care

A McGrath Breast Care Nurse provides a consistent contact for you and your family right throughout your complex treatment and beyond.

Clinical care

Our nurses can support with clinical care before, during and after surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Emotional support

Our nurses can be a source of emotional support, to listen and answer any questions you or your family might have been unable to ask your medical team.

Patient advocacy

Your care is led by a team of experts who work together to ensure you get the best treatment. A McGrath Breast Care Nurse can work as your voice in these settings to make sure your care is focused around you and not just the disease.

Information and advice

There is a lot of information available about breast cancer both reliable and unreliable. Your McGrath Breast Care Nurse can help guide you through this information to help you understand and reduce your worry.

Family support

The care and support of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse isn’t limited to people with breast cancer. Often a breast cancer diagnosis is very difficult on your partner or family. Without the right support it can be just as confusing for them.

Metastatic support

All our nurses can support people with metastatic breast cancer and their families.  They understand the challenges of the diagnosis and the complexities of different treatment options and the potential side effects.  Our nurses provide personalised support, recognising that quality of life is especially important.
