UBER Announces Partnership

Uber and the McGrath Foundation have announced a fundraising partnership that will see car icons in the app turn pink during the Sydney test match and a $10 donation for each new rider sign-up going to the McGrath Foundation.

David Rohrsheim, General Manager for Australia and New Zealand, Uber said:

‘We’re super excited to be partnering with the McGrath Foundation to support the invaluable work McGrath Breast Care Nurses do across Australia every day. From today, any new rider that signs up with Uber can take a free ride worth up to $20, and we’ll also donate $10 to the McGrath Foundation for these trips. We hope to raise tens of thousands of dollars with this campaign, while also boosting awareness for this important cause.’

From today until 20 January Uber will donate $10 to the McGrath Foundation each time a new rider signs up with the MCGRATHPINK promo code and takes their first trip.

Petra Buchanan, McGrath Foundation CEO, welcomed the partnership.

‘In a mobile based society we are thrilled that businesses like Uber are working with us to find innovative and easy ways for people to support the McGrath Foundation. Uber is becoming a very popular travel option, so whether heading out during the festive season or making your way to the cricket, every new rider using MCGRATHPINK not only saves money themselves, but ensures a $10 donation from Uber to help place McGrath Breast Care Nurses around the country,’ she said.

Uber driver-partners will be encouraged to get in to the spirit of the campaign and ‘pink-up’ themselves and their cars during the campaign, and anyone using Uber in Australia during the promotion will see the in-app car icons turn pink.

‘We look forward to rolling this campaign out with the help of our driver-partners and hope the public will use this opportunity to get on board such a great cause like the McGrath Foundation,’ said David Rohrsheim.
