Kerri-Anne Kennerley Joins Pink Fitters Day 2014

Kumho Tyres and Australian television personality, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, today announced that they’re partnering to raise vital support for the McGrath Foundation through Pink Fitters Day 2014.

Kennerley, a breast cancer survivor herself, has come on board as the official ambassador for Kumho Tyres’ Pink Fitters Day; the company’s major community initiative that sees tyre dealerships Australia-wide fundraise for the McGrath Foundation by turning pink for the day.

The fourth annual Pink Fitters Day will be held at Kumho Tyre Platinum dealerships and participating retail partners on Friday the 2nd of May 2014.

The fundraising event will give customers the chance to win their next fitted set of tyres for free, if they purchase McGrath Foundation merchandise on the 2nd of May from a participating dealer. All proceeds from themed merchandise will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.

In addition to hosting Pink Fitters Day, Kumho Tyres will also give an annual donation of $100,000 to the McGrath Foundation to help place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities around Australia.

Kennerley was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2012 and although she is pleased to report she is now in remission, she implores Australians to get involved in Pink Fitters Day and support a cause very close to her heart.

‘Its community-driven initiatives like this that really help to create awareness and support for the McGrath Foundation and the important work they do.

‘My world turned upside down when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and it was my breast care nurse who armed me with the information and support that I needed,’ says Kennerley.

‘Experiencing breast cancer is exhausting and overwhelming. Having someone by your side to answer all the hard questions and give reassurance is critical to your mental wellbeing.

‘I was fortunate enough to have a strong support network and access to a fantastic breast care nurse when I needed it most, but I know this isn’t the case for everyone.

‘I encourage all Australians to join me in supporting this year’s Pink Fitters Day. The more funds we raise, the more families can be supported through the funding of McGrath Breast Care Nurses,’ added Kennerley.

The McGrath Foundation’s mission is to ensure every Australian family who is experiencing breast cancer has access to a McGrath Breast Care Nurses – no matter where they live or their financial situation.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses are specially trained registered nurses who act as patient advocates, coordinating care for women experiencing breast cancer, their families and carers. They provide accurate information, support and referral to services.

Kumho Tyres is a long-term friend of the McGrath Foundation and has donated over $500,000.

Participating dealerships will start fundraising from the 27th of April for one week in the lead-up to Pink Fitters Day. Merchandise for sale during the week includes McGrath Foundation wristbands and pink valve caps.
