Care that reaches across Australia

Every day, McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are supporting people and families experiencing cancer in communities across Australia.

Today, 430 nurses are delivering free, expert care – helping people navigate treatment, understand what comes next and feel supported through some of the most challenging moments in their lives.  Across the country, nurses like Daniel, Dinah and Pauline are showing what that care can look like.

Based in the Northern Rivers, NSW, Daniel has been a registered nurse for 15 years and supports people experiencing lung cancer. For Daniel, making a difference often starts with simply being there, providing a consistent and trusted source of support while patients navigate specialists, treatment decisions and side effects.

“Being able to provide consistent and trusted support and often simply be there to listen can make a real difference.”

In Rockingham, Dinah became Western Australia’s first McGrath Cancer Care Nurse dedicated to supporting people experiencing upper gastrointestinal and lung cancers. With more than 15 years’ nursing experience, she is passionate about holistic care and empowering her patients to feel heard and informed.

“When patients share their concerns whether they be practical, clinical or emotional, open communication is so important.”

In Alice Springs, Pauline is helping make cancer care more accessible for people across Central Australia. With 30 years’ nursing experience, she understands the additional challenges people in remote communities can face, from long-distance travel and accommodation costs to time away from family.

“My focus is on easing these pressures, bringing care closer to home and ensuring people can concentrate on what matters most to them.”
