Yet care doesn't just happen. It takes specialist nurses, families, communities, workplaces, schools, businesses and supporters all playing their part. That's why the McGrath Foundation's Care For All Takes a Nation campaign is shining a light on the many Australians helping ensure no one goes through cancer without care.
This September and October, people across Australia are encouraged to pink up, fundraise and show they care by hosting a fundraiser, making a donation, rallying their workplace, school, sporting club or local community in support of people experiencing cancer. Every act of care helps fund McGrath Cancer Care Nurses so more people and their families can access the care they need.
McGrath Foundation Ambassador, Tracy Bevan, said Care For All Takes a Nation recognises the role every Australian can play in supporting people experiencing cancer.

The McGrath Foundation's purpose is to ensure that no one goes through cancer without the care of a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse. Today, the McGrath Foundation funds 430 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses across Australia. Our nurses are experts in cancer nursing care and provide free clinical, psychosocial and emotional support to people with any type of cancer and their families throughout treatment. You don't even need a referral.
Since 2005, the McGrath Foundation has supported more than 186,000 people and their families through cancer. It costs around $150,000 to fund and support each McGrath Cancer Care Nurse every year, making community support vital to ensuring more Australians can access the care they need.
Across Australia, individuals, schools, sporting clubs, workplaces and entire communities are already demonstrating what Care For All Takes a Nation looks like in action. From morning teas and Pink Up events to golf days, fun runs and personal fundraising challenges, Australians continue to show up for people experiencing cancer in extraordinary ways.

Known as the “Pink Man of Kilcoy”, Harold has worn pink every day for more than 25 years to honour his late wife and raise awareness of breast cancer. Despite experiencing significant personal loss and his own cancer diagnosis, Harold continues to support his community through fundraising and advocacy, serving as a proud ambassador for Pink Up Kilcoy and the McGrath Foundation.
Inspired by the McGrath Foundation and a simple lesson about giving, 11-year-old Owen turned an idea into a fundraising tradition at his local cricket club.
