In June, the McGrath Foundation proudly attended the CNSA (Cancer Nurses Society of Australia) & ISNCC (International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care) 2025 Annual Winter Congress, a powerful gathering of health professionals from around the world committed to advancing cancer care and sharing the important work of cancer nurses internationally and locally.
245 McGrath Cancer Care Nurses came together for 4 days of learning, connection, and inspiration, contributing an incredible 6,308 hours of professional development.
We were thrilled to see a record 18 presentations and posters from our team, showcasing the depth of expertise and innovation amongst our nursing team.

We kicked off the 4 days with a McGrath Nurse Education Workshop with two impactful sessions: Introducing the new McGrath Model of Care, and Why are priority populations so important? These sessions laid the groundwork for deeper conversations around equity and excellence in care.
We also hosted a pre-congress symposium as part of the Congress, centred on Communicating Well in Cancer Care: Cultural Considerations and Evidence-Based Skills, which featured sessions on effective communication in cancer care and a hands-on communication skills workshop — both designed to enhance culturally safe and compassionate care delivery.

On the following days of the conference, our exhibition booth became a vibrant space for engagement, connection, and successful recruitment of participants for the McGrath Model of Care consensus survey. We also proudly co-presented with Waminda, sharing insights into our partnership and the development of the Partnership Assessment Tool.
A standout moment was meeting Professor Margaret Fitch and demonstrating how her 7 Domains of Supportive Care have been thoughtfully integrated into our new McGrath Model of Care that we are finalising with Ethicol - a testament to our dedication on delivering care that is both evidence-informed and centred around the needs of individuals with cancer.
We’re incredibly proud of our McGrath Cancer Care Nurses and team members who continue to lead, learn, and advocate for the best possible equitable care for people experiencing any type of cancer.
