What does the McGrath Foundation do?

We fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses who support individuals and their families experiencing breast cancer. Our nurses provide trusted, consistent and knowledgeable support for families by offering medical expertise, clinical care and psychosocial support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.

Support is available for anyone with breast cancer, whether you’re in public or private care. Our McGrath Breast Care Nurses provide care and support for early or metastatic breast cancer.

No referral is required. Simply use our Find A Nurse Map and give your nearest nurse a call.

Support is absolutely free. Thanks to our generous donations from the community, corporate partners and the government there is nothing to pay and nothing to claim back.

Our Nurses

The McGrath Foundation currently funds 233 McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia. Our nurses are at the heart of the McGrath Foundation, working to improve the lives of individuals and families experiencing breast cancer.

Breast health understanding

Part of the work our nurses do is improving Breast health understanding. Breast health understanding means being aware of the importance of breast health, being confident in detecting changes, being knowledgeable about the risk factors for breast cancer and checking your breasts regularly.

“My McGrath Breast Care Nurse helped me break down the barriers of understanding and doubt at every stage of my breast cancer experience. I always feel confident knowing that Helen is a phone call away. She makes me feel safe.”

- Sharon Neeson, NSW

“The reassurance and helpful advice my McGrath Breast Care Nurse gave me at each step has been magnificent. I don’t know how I would have survived mentally and physically without Michelle’s cheery visits and phone calls each week.”

- Rosemary Fulton, VIC
