McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are Registered Nurses who are experts in cancer nursing care. They have relevant postgraduate qualifications, or are working towards postgraduate qualifications specific to caring for people with a cancer diagnosis.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses provide leading clinical, psychosocial, and emotional support to individuals with any type of cancer throughout treatment.

Be a Registered Nurse

Have a minimum of five years' post registration experience in providing care to people with cancer, for example surgical oncology or medical oncology.

Have relevant postgraduate qualifications, or are working towards postgraduate qualifications in cancer care nursing.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurses are provided with ongoing support through education and professional development opportunities. They are also offered clinical mentorship and participation in Communities of Practice.

Applications are open for a McGrath First Nations Identified Cancer Specialist Nurse based at Box Hill Hospital. This is a Temporary Part-Time (3 year contract with possibility of extension) position.

McGrath Cancer Care Nurse First Nations (Multi Tumour) - Brisbane, QLD

Applications are now open for an identified 1.0FTE MCCN position based at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples experiencing cancer.

The McGrath Foundation Scholarship Program

The McGrath Foundation is focused on the growth and sustainability of cancer nursing. A commitment to workforce planning and development is crucial to ensure the Foundation can meet the national demand for cancer nurses into the future.

The McGrath Foundation Scholarships for Cancer Nursing are for Registered Nurses currently providing care to people with any type of cancer, who would like to expand their knowledge and skills, and obtain a post-graduate qualification in cancer nursing.

Scholarship applications for the 2026 McGrath Foundation Scholarship Program, supporting nurses to complete a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Nursing, offered at Monash University, have now closed. We will open the 2027 McGrath Foundation Scholarship Program in late 2026.
