"WITH HER I DIDN’T NEED TO HAVE MY BRAVE FACE ON"
Emily was just 25 when her life was changed. Fortunately, Bec Hay was there to help through every aspect of her experience with breast cancer– for Emily, her husband Andrew and their 10 month old daughter Indi.
‘I instantly trusted her – she was the person I could ask any question, confide in, tell her exactly what was on my mind. It was such a relief,’ Emily said.
Now, six years cancer free, Emily’s family has grown. Indi is now seven, and an amazing big sister to Lily, her 15 month old baby sister.
Emily says, ‘The whole thing feels a little bit surreal, like it happened a whole lifetime ago.’
Bec is just one of the 117 McGrath Breast Care Nurses we have across Australia, and Emily is just one patient.
With more than 17,500 women and 140 men expected to be diagnosed with this year, and as the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women, in Australia, the need for specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses is only going to increase.
