ln_nurse_and_funding_mgrI’m very excited to be able to introduce you to our newest McGrath Breast Care Nurse, Kim Wright (pictured). Kim is currently working at Sutherland Hospital within South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service. Kim’s appointment brings the total number of McGrath Breast Care Nurses to 54. A big welcome, Kim!

In the last issue I mentioned that our nurses would be attending the 12th National Breast Care Nurse Conference in Sydney in March. We were lucky enough to have all but one of the McGrath Breast Care Nurses come together for three days, and the conference was a great success. It was an excellent opportunity for our nurses to equip themselves with all the latest information and research regarding breast cancer, and also to meet and network with other breast care nurses from across Australia. It was obvious that the McGrath Breast Care Nurses thoroughly enjoyed catching up with each other, and it was extremely beneficial for them to have the chance to come together and share their experiences.

Lastly, I’d like to welcome Kim Kerin-Ayres, a new addition to the McGrath Foundation Family. Newly appointed to the role of McGrath Clinical Nurse Educator, Kim has worked in oncology nursing since 1989, giving her the necessary experience and dedication to offer continuing education to the McGrath Breast Care Nurses, as well as emotional and practical support where needed. Kim will be hard to miss as she drives around Sydney in her hot pink PT Cruiser, kindly donated by the McGrath Foundation’s generous Corporate Friend, Community First Credit Union. So if you see the hot pink PT Cruiser, make sure you give Kim a big wave!
