Supporting McGrath Foundation in the community

From time to time, you may see people in your community raising funds for the McGrath Foundation.

McGrath Foundation in your street

As our organisation grows, we’re engaging with more and more people across Australia to share the work our McGrath Breast Care Nurses do to help make life that little bit easier for families experiencing breast cancer. We’re knocking on doors around the country to have a chat and ask people to make a regular monthly donation to help us continue to fund these specialist nurses in communities where they’re needed.

This is one of the best ways to grow our amazing Circle of Friends – people who commit to a regular monthly donation to the McGrath Foundation, which in turn helps us better plan for the future and get us closer to fulfilling our mission: ensuring that every family experiencing breast cancer has access to a McGrath Breast Care Nurse, no matter where they live – for free.

We’re members of the Public Fundraising Regulatory Association which means we comply with strict regulations about fundraising practices. You can read about them here.

Identifying a McGrath Foundation fundraiser

McGrath Foundation fundraisers will be wearing bright pink McGrath Foundation tops and caps. The logo will be visible on their top, as well as on their ID, which will be around their neck on a McGrath Foundation lanyard, with their photo, name and ID number.

Face-to-face fundraisers are different to people who volunteer at community events. They can’t accept cash or cheques; they can only ask for regular monthly donations by credit card or direct debit. If you’d like to make a one-off gift, you can do that here.

Check the list below for where our fundraisers are out and about this month:

McGrath Foundation community events

We have amazing supporters right across the country who hold events to raise funds for the Foundation – anything from bake sales to gala balls, so there’s sure to be something in your area that tickles your fancy! When our community fundraisers register, they’re given a letter of authority that proves they’re fundraising on our behalf, as well as a form that enables us to provide receipts for tax deductible donations, and various tools and resources to help them with their goals.

McGrath Foundation campaigns

We have two major fundraising campaigns throughout the year – Pink Stumps Day, which encourages cricket clubs to turn their games pink and fundraise, and Pull On Your Sock, for winter sports teams of any kind. While these are community-held events, people or teams who register receive special McGrath Foundation kits that give them authority to fundraise on behalf of the Foundation.

McGrath Foundation High Teas

Every year we hold three High Tea events – one on Jane McGrath Day as part of the Sydney Pink Test, and the other two in winter and spring.
