CRICKETERS COLOUR-UP FOR A CAUSE
Members of the Angaston Cricket Club raised an impressive $7120.50 for the McGrath Foundation when twenty batsmen adorned their cricket bats with pink grips and sponsors donated money for each run made during the game.
Angaston cricketers, Brett and Ben Burgess organised a fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation after their mother, Joy, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The McGrath Foundation cause has special meaning for two club members, Ben and Brett Burgess, as their 51 year old mother, Joy, was recently diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer.
The brothers wanted to do something positive, raise awareness of breast cancer and raise money for the Foundation at the same time, and their Mum was very proud that they came up with this great idea.
The Burgess brothers have played cricket for Angaston for a collective 35 years and have considerable batting prowess which contributed to such a great result.

RUN FOR LIFE
In a first for the McGrath Foundation, UK marathon runner James Skinner will represent the Foundation when he competes in both the Berlin Marathon on Sunday 28 September 2008 and the New York Marathon on 2 November 2008.
James was keen to support the Foundation with fundraising after reading Jane and Glenn's book, 'A Love for Life', which enthralled him. In James’ words ‘I simply couldn't put it down!! ‘ he said. James has several reasons for representing the Foundation; firstly because he felt really inspired by Jane and Glenn's story, secondly because his Aunt has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, thirdly because he has just visited Australia for the trip of a lifetime and he fell in love with the country, its people & nature and finally because marathon running is something very close to his heart.
We wish him every success with the marathons and will be cheering him on. If you’d like to support James by donating to the Foundation click here and nominate ‘James’ in the Comments box.
