English Football Raises Money for the McGrath Foundation
An exciting addition to our fundraising this year is an event we are organising in
England. It’s a charity celebrity football match to be held on 30th September at
Altrincham Football Club, in Manchester.
Captained by Glenn McGrath, the team consists of Michael Bevan, Darren Gough, Clayton Blackmoore (ex Manchester United player) and Brian Robson (ex Manchester United and England player) as well as many others. They are playing a team called the All Stars which consists of actors from top UK soaps Coronation St, Emmerdale Farm and Hollyoaks.
Great fun will be had by all no doubt! After the game we are hosting a fundraising dinner and all proceeds from both the football match and dinner will be divided between the McGrath Foundation and the Altrincham Football Club.
So if you are visiting the UK during September, come along and bring your friends to see our Aussie Heroes putting on their "other boots" to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation.
Our thanks go to the Altrincham Football Club as this will be their second fundraising event for the McGrath Foundation. In 2006 they raised almost $30,000 for the Foundation at a fundraising dinner.
Fine Art Promotions' Sharmena Miah, is a shy, young emerging British
artist whose family originates from Bangladesh. Her fine art is sourced
from the cultural, political and environmental surroundings of her
ancestry. Indian contemporary art remains head of the international art
market as a dominant entity. Sharmena is preparing for her first major
exhibition in London for 2008. Her work here is from her recent series,
inspired by the unique textiles of India, their movements and vibrant
colours. The mixed media of acrylic paint and threaded sequins and beads
brings balance and depth to the composition.
Hand stretched: 98cm x 54cm.
Estimate £800-£1000 ($1900-$2500 AUD approx).
