board_glenn.jpgWe've had an extremely busy start to September here at the Foundation with a number of exciting things happening, not the least being the launch of a new McGrath Ingham Breast Care Nurse in Queensland at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, and a celebration to mark the extraordinary contribution made by Basil and Claire Sellers to so many charities.

To the first, with demand for support from the existing breast care nurse services at the Princess Alexandra Hospital far exceeding capacity, the introduction of our wonderful new McGrath Ingham Breast Care Nurse, Karen Miles, will allow more people experiencing breast cancer and their families to have access to this amazing support. As always I am personally very grateful to Ingham for their continued support of the Foundation and funding of Karen's position. I know first hand what a difference having access to a breast care nurse made to both Jane and I throughout our breast cancer experience and I am so pleased that even more Brisbane families will be able to access similar support. To top it all off, Karen is a fantastic person so I have no doubt she will make an impact immediately.

Thanks also to everyone at the Ingham Processing Plant at Murarrie. It was great to be able to see how this fantastic company works and to meet everyone up there.

To the second, I also recently had the opportunity, along with other members of the McGrath Foundation Family, to celebrate the extraordinary philanthropic work of Basil Sellers at the Sir Roden Cutler Charities Dinner. I'm lucky enough to consider Basil and his wife, Clare, to be among my closest friends and I couldn't be more in awe of the work they have done to make a difference to so many people's lives, including my own and Jane's. It is simply phenomenal that they support 50 charities, one of which is the McGrath Foundation. Basil funds our three McGrath Sellers Breast Care Nurses based in Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Whyalla in South Australia. It was an honour to attend the dinner and have the opportunity to thank Basil and his wife, Clare, personally for their generosity.

And finally now that spring has arrived I am looking forward to getting out with the kids as much as possible. On September 20 we will be walking in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival and hope to raise $50,000 for the Foundation. This amount will fund a McGrath Breast Care Nurse for six months and will bring us one step closer to realising Jane's dream that every woman diagnosed with breast cancer and her family will have access to a specialised breast care nurse. You can help me reach my target by sponsoring me at http://www.gofundraise.com.au/McGrathG or by registering to take part yourself and raise funds for the McGrath Foundation at http://www.gofundraise.com.au/McGrathFdn.

Until next time,
