Our Volunteers

FINAL_volunteersIn May we celebrated National Volunteer Week, the time when the nation stops and reflects on how volunteers keep charity wheels turning. To commemorate the occasion, we held a thank you function in Sydney to recognise the extraordinary efforts of volunteers who’ve helped out at various events and in our office over the past year. It was a great evening and we’d like to thank Gary and Jayne from Wildlife Hair in Milson’s Point for generously donating their salon as the spectacular venue, as well as Hesketh Wines and Mount Franklin for providing drinks on the night.

The Foundation would not be where it is today without our wonderful volunteers, so thank you for giving up your spare time to help. If you’ve never volunteered for us but would like to, click here to find out how you can help.

Thanks to our friends at Designer Kitchens Direct, the McGrath Foundation brought a touch of pink to the HIA Sydney Home Show for the second year running. Thanks to everyone who purchased a raffle ticket, we raised over $7,500! Congratulations to Henry Pittman from Engadine, NSW, who won the major raffle prize of a new kitchen, thanks to Designer Kitchens Direct, SMEG, Zip, Caesarstone®, Specialised Project Services & Graphic Glass.

 Ben Nason

FINAL_BenRichmond Tigers midfielder, Ben Nason, took the brave step of cutting off his famous blonde dreadlocks to raise money for the McGrath Foundation in support of his mum, Wendy, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. Over $10,000 was donated – thanks Ben!  You can check out how it all went down on our McGrath Foundation YouTube channel.
