Meet Nancy Scott, McGrath Breast Care Nurse for Mount Isa, QLD
Thursday, 09 June 2011 15:50
Nursing since 1990, Nancy has gained extensive experience caring for women experiencing breast cancer after completing her Breast Cancer Entity degree at LaTrobe University and setting up the inaugural specialist breast care nurse position in Lismore. In 2002, Nancy received a highly commended 'Public Advocacy' award from the Cancer Council NSW in recognition of her involvement in promotion of breast cancer trials in rural Australia.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to follow my passion of breast care nursing and to have been the McGrath Breast Care Nurse for Mount Isa for the past 22 months. I am ecstatic that Mount Isa women and their families have access to a McGrath Breast Care Nurse and I am looking forward to providing ongoing support and coordination of care to women and their families throughout their breast cancer experience."
In true McGrath Foundation spirit, Nancy helped to care for victims of the Christchurch earthquake earlier this year. She was holidaying in New Zealand when the quake struck in February, so she volunteered in the Emergency Room at Christchurch’s Princess Margaret Hospital – thanks Nancy!
