Tyre dealers and pink, what a great fit! Kumho tyre dealers support the McGrath Foundation on Pink Fitters Day

The blokey world of tyre retailing will again turn a shade of pink on Friday 8th April with more than 1000 Kumho tyre fitters around the country sporting pink shirts to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.

Local Kumho tyre dealer staff and fitters will wear special pink shirts on the day as a sign of their support for the McGrath Foundation, which raises money to support families experiencing breast cancer, through the placement of McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, and to increase breast awareness in young Australian women.

From every pink shirt bought by Kumho tyre dealers and their staff, nine dollars will be donated to the McGrath Foundation. Kumho Tyres hope to raise $15,000 from the initiative.

In addition to the funds raised on Pink Fitters Day, leading tyre manufacturer Kumho will donate a further $100,000 per year over the next two years to the McGrath Foundation, in addition to the $100,000 already donated in 2010.

According to Kumho Tyre’s Marketing Manager, David Basha, the tyre industry is a blokey business, but there is again a groundswell of support for the fundraising day.

“The enthusiasm and support for Pink Fitters day shows that people in the tyre industry understand that breast cancer, as the McGrath Foundation says, doesn’t just affect women – it affects families,” said David Basha.

More than 210 Kumho tyre dealers across every state and territory in Australia will participate in Pink Fitters Day as the initiative, now in its second year, grows in popularity and success.

Kumho Australia’s Managing Director, Edmund Cho, said the initiative was part of the tyre maker’s ‘100,000 Good Reasons’ program, which ensures the company contributes positively to communities around the world in which it operates.

“As a tyre manufacturer, Kumho is committed to working hard to provide a substantial contribution to the betterment of people and society in general.

“Kumho has been marketing products in Australia for over 30 years and as a company we felt it was time to give back to the community,” said Mr. Cho.

“In Korea, our approach to corporate and social responsibility is described as “arum daun giup”, which literally translated means beautiful company,” said Mr. Cho.

As part of its commitment to social responsibility, Kumho is using innovative technology to develop more environmentally friendly tyres.

Tyre customers are urged to support Kumho’s backing of the McGrath Foundation by visiting their local Kumho tyre dealer even if it is just to offer a word of support to the pink clad tyre fitters and consultants or for a safety check of their vehicle.

“Pink Fitters Day is already established as a major annual event in the tyre industry as more and more tyre retailers come on board in years to come to support the McGrath Foundation and the great work it is doing to support women experiencing breast cancer, and their families, right across Australia,” David Basha concluded.
