Stumps are hotter in PINK!
Wednesday, 16 March 2011 14:26Cricket fields across Australia were awash with pink last weekend as more than 650 cricket clubs participated in Pink Stumps Day, our community cricket fundraising initiative supported by our good friends at Cricket Australia.
Thank you so much to all of the clubs who took part in Pink Stumps Day and brought their local communities together for a great day of cricket that raised funds to help us place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and increase breast awareness in young women.
We’re thrilled with how enthusiastically clubs have embraced the first ever Pink Stumps Day and we’re very proud of their extraordinary fundraising efforts, with some clubs raising $5,000 or $10,000 thanks to the support of their communities!
A big thank you to Cricket Australia for supporting Pink Stumps Day, Sommers Cricket for providing the fantastic Pink Stumps Day team kits that all participating clubs received, and to our wonderful volunteers who helped pack the kits.
Donations from the clubs are still coming in, but we’ll let you know the total amount raised from Pink Stumps Day once it’s all tallied up. In the meantime, make sure you check out our Facebook page to see photos from Pink Stumps Day events around the country.
Remember, the club which raised the most money will win a cricket bat signed by the Australian cricket team, but you’ve got to be in it to win it! To be eligible for this prize, you must remit your funds by Monday 21 March (using your PSD number as a reference). For information about how to remit the funds, refer to the correspondence you‘ve received from the Foundation or call our reception on (02) 8962 6100.
