Statement from the McGrath Foundation

Wednesday, 24 November 2010 10:49

Everyone at the McGrath Foundation is deeply concerned about the media coverage that has followed the commissioning of our annual tracking survey over the weekend and as such we wanted to offer the following.

To provide the context, this research is something that the Foundation has now done for the last two years and is designed to provide us with input on what people know of what we do and how they feel we are delivering on our commitments. It is important to note that at no point in time did we ask people to provide their opinions on Glenn and Sara’s personal relationship.

Having said that clearly some of the questions have been taken out of context and have created anxiety, not only for everyone here, but also for those people who have chosen to support us. For this we are very sorry and want to make it clear that Glenn and Sara have our full support. Glenn is an integral part of the Foundation and his commitment to the organisation is unwavering. As with all of us, we remain committed to doing what we can to support Australian families affected by breast cancer and to increase breast awareness and we could not be prouder of the fact that we have been able to grow our Breast Care Nurse numbers to in excess of 55 nationally providing support to some 6,000 families in the last 18 months.

As always we thank everyone for their comments and input and can only undertake to continue our commitment to meeting the goals we have set.
