Think Pink: Pink number plates campaign raises $91,000 for McGrath Foundation

More than 4,300 NSW motorists have made the decision to ’go pink’ in support of the McGrath Foundation by purchasing hot pink number plates from the RTA. Premier Kristina Keneally joined Glenn McGrath at the 3 Mobile Cricket Test in Sydney today to announce the NSW Government will extend the popular ‘Pink Plates’ campaign until the end of June to raise even more funds for the McGrath Foundation’s worthwhile work.

The McGrath Foundation has already received $70,000 in funding from the NSW Government ’Pink Plates’ campaign. Premier Keneally today presented Glenn with a cheque for $21,000, collected from pink plate sales in November and December last year.

“Since April last year, more than $91,000 has been raised by NSW motorists who have chosen to purchase a pink plate,” Ms Keneally said. “This has been a hugely popular campaign in NSW. The NSW Government will continue to donate $15 for every pink plate sold and $50 for each prestige pink plate sold to the McGrath Foundation to help them continue their excellent work supporting women experiencing breast cancer – particularly in regional areas.

“I’d encourage motorists to think about adding a touch of pink to their vehicles. For most pink plates this involves a one-off payment and they are yours for life.”

Glenn McGrath was the first person in NSW to fit customised hot pink number plates to his vehicle, back in April last year. “I’m glad that the campaign has raised so much money for our Foundation,” he said.

“I am really thrilled that it will be extended so we can continue to support breast cancer sufferers in regional parts of the State. It is great to see so many motorists in New South Wales getting behind this initiative that also looks great on the vehicle.”
