Katich and Watson urge all fans to think pink for the 3 mobile Test in Sydney

Australian batsmen Simon Katich and Shane Watson today threw their support behind the SCG turning pink in support of Jane and Glenn McGrath’s breast cancer charity, the McGrath Foundation, when the 3 mobile Test against Pakistan starts on 3 January at the SCG. The two friends of the McGrath Foundation called on all fans to think pink on Day 1 and pick up a pink bandana from McGrath Foundation volunteers at the ground.

Shane Watson has been a friend of the McGrath Foundation since its founding in 2005:

“I knew Jane through our cricket connection and it’s a great tribute to her memory to see the SCG pink as we did last year.”

“It also is an important reminder for young women to be, as the McGrath Foundation says, breast aware, and a great excuse for all fans to dress in pink and come along and enjoy the cricket.”

Katich saw first-hand the sea of pink at last year’s match:

“Being out in the middle was quite amazing to see the whole crowd dressed in pink, it added a whole new dimension of fan involvement to the match, so we hope fans come out in support to make the event even bigger than last season.”

For the first time the Test shirt will feature the McGrath Foundation logo on the collar, putting the McGrath Foundation in the spotlight throughout the match.

3 mobile will be turning their on-field signage, fence signage and the stumps pink, while the Australian Test shirt will feature the pink 3. In addition 3 mobile volunteers will be distributing Pink Zinc to fans throughout the ground in return for a gold coin donation to make the SCG even pinker than last summer’s successful effort from fans.

Fans can also get involved with a range of McGrath Foundation merchandise available for sale at the SCG, including polo shirts, caps, flags and even pink wigs with a percentage of proceeds going to the Foundation.

Throughout the Test fans from around Australia can support the McGrath Foundation in their quest to place breast care nurses around the country by logging on to www.mcgrathfoundation.com.au and donating. Every person that donates will have a chance to win one of the unique limited edition pink player’s shirts worn and signed by the 12 Australian players during the match.
