I have great pleasure in reporting that another two McGrath Breast Care Nurses have joined our team recently, taking the total number of McGrath Breast Care Nurses employed nationally to 53 – an increase from seven, this time last year. Our newest recruits are based in Griffith, NSW and Barmera, SA and it is wonderful to have them on board, so we’d like to extend a really warm welcome to them both. One of the most exciting and rewarding activities this year has been the Inaugural McGrath Breast Care Nurse Induction workshop that was held in Sydney in mid-August. The workshop was conducted over three days and armed the McGrath Breast Care Nurses with a range of information and resources to help them in their roles. This was a fantastic experience for us all and I know that the relationships that have been forged will be long-lasting and rewarding. It was wonderful for us all to put faces to names, receive updates on latest information, and have the opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the individual circumstances in which all our McGrath Breast Care Nurses work.
At the end of August, Glenn joined us in Brisbane to officially launch our new McGrath Ingham Breast Care Nurse, Karen Miles, at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Karen’s position has been generously sponsored for the next three years by one of the McGrath Foundation’s long-term friends, Ingham Enterprises. Read all about Karen, and the wealth of skills and experience that she brings to the McGrath Ingham Breast Care Nurse role, below.
It has been another hectic, rewarding and fun couple of months, and I look forward to updating you on more exciting developments within the McGrath Breast Care Nurse programme in the next issue!
