Memorial Services Held Nationally To Remember Jane McGrath

Thursday, 18 June 2009 10:31

jane.jpgThe McGrath Foundation, together with White Lady Funerals, are inviting the general public to attend memorial services being held nationally on 22 June 2009 to remember an inspirational woman and Co-Founder of the McGrath Foundation, Jane McGrath, on the first anniversary of her passing.

These services will provide an opportunity for the general public to remember Jane McGrath and the amazing contribution she made both to raising breast awareness and providing support to those experiencing breast cancer, and their families, right across Australia through the McGrath Breast Care Nurses.

For those who have lost loved ones to diseases such as breast cancer, these memorial services will also provide an opportunity to remember family and friends and to reflect on the time with them.

Executive Director of the McGrath Foundation, Tracy Bevan, said, "Jane was a courageous woman. Her public experience with breast cancer was nothing short of inspirational, but she never lost sight of the fact that she was not alone and that women across Australia, and their families, were also fighting this disease. Jane was passionate about providing these women with the support they needed - she was always thinking of others."

During her eleven year battle with breast cancer, Jane McGrath provided inspiration to many Australian women diagnosed with the disease, as well as offering practical support through the McGrath Foundation.  Jane dreamt of an army of McGrath Breast Care Nurses to support every woman diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia and their families.

Today, the McGrath Foundation continues Jane's legacy, raising funds to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses throughout rural and regional Australia, as well as increasing breast awareness among young Australian women.

Juliette Frame, Regional Manager of White Lady Funerals, Sydney, said, "The admiration and respect people have for Jane McGrath is simply overwhelming. She was, and is, a much loved woman and it's amazing how many people want to show their respect.

"White Lady Funerals knows how important it is for people to share emotions about the people who have touched their hearts. We also know the importance of practical measures to improve women's health. We are honoured to help perpetuate Jane McGrath's memory and to acknowledge the important work the McGrath Foundation and the McGrath Breast Care Nurses are doing," says Juliette.

ABOUT THE MCGRATH FOUNDATION

The McGrath Foundation was co-founded by Jane and Glenn McGrath after Jane's initial recovery from breast cancer.  The McGrath Foundation aims to raise money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in rural and regional Australia as well as educating young women to be ‘breast aware'.   Visit www.mcgrathfoundation.com.au for more information on how you can make a difference.

ABOUT WHITE LADY FUNERALS

White Lady Funerals came into being because of the special kind of calm strength women are able to offer in support of a grieving family. Since 1987 we have been committed to offering a woman's understanding to the process of funeral arrangement and to being there for the family long after the funeral is over.
