The 'Pink' Slipper: This Seasons Racing Accessory

pink-slipper.jpgOur 900 guests were entertained by singer/songwriter, Melinda Schneider and Fox Sports Reporter, Lee Furlong, who hosted the event - both of whom are Friends of the McGrath Foundation. Guests enjoyed rubbing shoulders with celebrities including Miss Universe Australia - Laura Dundovic, Cleo Bachelors, Australian netballer - Catherine Cox, as well as cricketing legends - Mark Waugh and Shane Watson. Also in attendance were well respected racing identities Glenn Munsie, Kim Waugh and Bryan Martin OAM - all of which were happy to provide attendees with their best tips for the day.

Highlights of the day included Glenn McGrath, Shane Watson and Bryan Martin losing the TAB BIG6 punting purse, (generously donated by TAB) by $10 to Tracy Bevan and Mark and Kim Waugh. Tracy is adamant that it was her 'Typhoon Tracy' tip in race seven that got them across the line!

Still in the room and ladies in attendance took full advantage of the make up touch up stand kindly supported by Australis while their partners no doubt enjoyed checking out the goodies in the gift bags on each seat at the event. These contained Blackmore's multi vitamins, Australis Mascara, Jacobs Creek Wine, necklaces by Splendiferous Jewellery, tea by T2, Papermate pens, pink golf ball from Teed Up and Trends Publishing Australia magazines.

The room got loud during the live auction where supporters walked away with McGrath Foundation pink racing silks signed by Melbourne Cup Winner Blake Shin, Sydney Jockey Kathy O'Hara, trainer Gai Waterhouse and Glenn McGrath; a framed pink ball and wicket keeping gloves signed by Glenn McGrath and Adam Gilchrist; and plane tickets and accommodation to the Hong Kong International Racing Tour in December sponsored by Cathy Pacific and Ambassador Travel.

It also seemed no one was left without a surprise when Tracy bribed the room for tips by giving away 100 pairs of divine 'My Sweet Feet' slippers to those lucky enough to find a voucher under their chair.

Meanwhile, punters out on the track also showed their support by decking themselves out in pink McGrath Foundation merchandise and some even got lucky on 'Heart of Dreams' - the winning horse of the McGrath Foundation Phar Lap Stakes. As always our fabulous volunteers played an invaluable role in the success of the day.

"Events like this race day give people the perfect opportunity to raise invaluable funds and breast awareness - while at the same time having some fun," said Glenn.

The McGrath Foundation would like to say thank you to everyone who supported us in some way on the day - whether as sponsor, guest or as a volunteer.

An extra special thank you to Sydney Turf Club who hosted the lunch - their commitment and enthusiasm ensured the day was a huge success. Photo Caption: Celebrity milliner, Donny Galella and Miss Universe Australia, Laura Dundovic with two winners from the Fashions in the Room competition
