Howzat! Pink ICC Women's World Cup match

Who would have thought that we would ever see a pink boundary at North Sydney Oval but that was exactly what organisers were able to do when the ICC Women's World Cup went pink on Thursday 19 March in support of the McGrath Foundation. Raising over $23,000 when Australia met England for their first clash, organisers could not have been happier with the results of the day.

The perimetre of the historic ground was painted pink as part of the days awareness efforts and volunteers sold pink wristbands and collected donations throughout the day. Event sponsor, LG, donated for every four and six scored during the match - raising $10,000 for the Foundation.

Many of the players also valued the opportunity to help raise funds for the Foundation, including Lisa Sthalekar who lost her mother to breast cancer in 2002. "The work of the Foundation is obviously very close to my heart and the opportunity to be a part of an event that supports their work is something I'm very proud of," said Lisa.

Lisa has since become an official Friend to the Foundation and in this capacity will to continue to work with everyone here to continue to promote breast awareness among young women.
