jane-honoured.jpgThe NSW Premier, Nathan Rees, honoured Jane McGrath by awarding her the 'Special NSW Recognition Award' as part of International Women's Day celebrations on March 5, 2009. The award recognises Jane's work raising funds for specialised McGrath Breast Care Nurses and encouraging young women to be breast aware.

Tracy, who accepted the award on behalf of Jane at the ceremony at Parliament House, was thrilled to see her dear friend Jane honoured in this way.

"I can't describe the sense of pride I felt standing there accepting this award on Jane's behalf. At the same time I was so conscious of how humbled Jane would have been in the face of it. You see, Jane wasn't a very public person but she felt so passionately about the opportunity presented to her as someone who had a public profile, to be able to help other women and their families deal with a breast cancer diagnosis. She still would've wondered if what all the fuss was about." said Tracy.
