Glenn's thank you speech

Thursday, 01 January 2009 10:00

It’s an honour to be standing here today. To think what we have achieved over the last five days still blows me away and I know Jane would be so proud.

Jane was an amazing person who had a real love for life and would say every day was beautiful and something to be treasured and that is how we try to live each and every day. What we have achieved here doesn’t just happen, and on behalf of the McGrath Foundation, my family and myself I would like to thank so many people.

A huge thank you to Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW, Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust, 3 Mobile, Channel 9 and Women’s Weekly, with a special thank you to the Channel 9 Commentary team, adidas, the Daily Telegraph, plus all other media we worked with recently.

Thank you also to the Ricky, the Australian players and their partners for everything they have done for us. I can’t thank you guys enough. It means a lot to me - I love you guys.

To Graeme Smith and the South African players – thank you for the support you gave us and I would like to say congratulations for the series win. You guys played some awesome cricket.

To everyone at the McGrath Foundation – with special mention to Kylea Tink and Tracy Bevan -without you guys this would not have happened so just a huge thank you and for making everything easier for me over the last five days.

To the volunteers - a huge thank you. I still find it incredible that people would give up their time to come out and support us in that way.

To my family and friends a huge thank you for the love and support you have given me. I couldn’t have gotten through the last six months without you.

And finally to the crowd that came out and supported the boys and us plus everyone watching from home - a big thank you because without you we wouldn’t have got this result and couldn’t do what we do.

It has been an amazing five days and I stand here now a very, very proud Australian. As we say at the McGrath Foundation, together we can make a difference and we’ve definitely achieved that over the last five days. Thank you and have a good day.
