The Melbourne Cup Carnival's annual Derby-eve event, the Sportsbet Late Mail Luncheon® 2009, will be held this year in the Victory Room at Melbourne's Etihad Stadium on Friday October 30.

Now in its 5^th year, the Sportsbet Late Mail Luncheon® is one of the racing calendar's glamour events with the best thoroughbred trainers and racing personalities joining celebrities and guests for an afternoon of lunch, fine wine and entertainment.

Featuring some of the best thoroughbred trainers in Australia, the luncheon this year boasts a brilliant line-up including Peter Moody, Peter Snowden, Greg Eurell, Joe Janiak, Joe Pride and Nigel Blackiston.

The champion trainers will be joined on stage for the Group-1 Trainers Panel by 2009 AAMI Victoria Derby winning jockey, Clare Lindop and will be hosted by Bryan Martin OAM.

Racing guests also include McGrath Foundation Chairman, Glenn McGrath; Melbourne Cup winning trainer Shelia Laxon; leading trainers Rodney Douglas, Tony Krushka and Rick Hore-Lacey; fashionista Katie Davenport; former AFL champion Scott Cummings and a host of other celebrities on the day.

Guests attending the luncheon will be provided all the hot racing tips for the big races over the carnival including the 2009 AAMI Victoria Derby, Emirates Melbourne Cup and Crown Oaks.

The day commences with pre-luncheon drinks at 12 noon with the lunch starting at 12.30pm and includes a sumptuous 3-course menu and all beverages, fabulous live entertainment and the Great Late Mail Live & Silent Auctions. Fundraising for the McGrath Foundation will be through a table raffle for 10 fantastic prizes including signed cricket memorabilia, an iPhone, RM Williams boots and a round of golf at the Metropolitan Golf Club, among other items.

Please note that the raffle is being entirely conducted by the McGrath Foundation, with all raffle ticket sale proceeds coming directly to the Foundation, and alongside an appeal for donations on the day, consitutes the only fundraising component of the luncheon which goes to the McGrath Foundation. The event ticket sales, auction proceeds, and any other proceeds from the event are NOT being donated to the McGrath Foundation.

Limited VIP tickets are also available to the infamous ‘After Luncheon Function' which kicks off after the luncheon ends at around 4pm. An after-party event not to be missed !
