Basketball for a Cure slam dunks over $5000 to the McGrath Foundation

The annual ‘Basketball for a Cure’, held at Bomaderry Basketball Stadium in November 2008, was a huge success, with 16 teams bouncing and slam dunking all weekend.

All teams contributed and pitched in to make the event a success. The Bar and BBQ went no stop from 11am Saturday finally closing about 5pm on Sunday along with the raffle and donations that kept rolling in merchandise was a big hit with hats & socks selling out in the first half and hour.

Carnival organiser and coordinator, Scott Balsar, said the event was a tremendous success. “ The carnival has started to attract some good teams and players this year, with five ex-WNBL Players and two former NBL Players. It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves whilst raising much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation,” said Scott.

Scott would like to personally thank all the players, sponsors and volunteers for making the event such a huge success, raising over $5000 for the McGrath Foundation - $2000 more than in 2007.
