Sydney's Blackmoores Running Festival

Glenn McGrath has announced he will again take part in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival on Sunday 21 September to raise funds for The McGrath Foundation.

As ambassador for the 2007 event, Glenn and his late wife Jane took part in the family fun run section with their children Holly and James. This time, he and his children will be joined by his mother Beverley and more than 100 runners who have already registered to run in support of the McGrath Foundation. They will run and walk in the event to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, which provides funding for breast care nurses.

More than 25,000 runners are expected to take part in the 2008 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival on Sunday 21 September for their once-a-year chance to run over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and finish at the Sydney Opera House. The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival incorporates the Blackmores Marathon and Half Marathon, The Sunday Telegraph body+soul Bridge Run (9km) and The Sunday Telegraph Family Fun Run/Walk (4km).

Glenn today encouraged the public to enter Australia’s largest running event in order to get active and help raise funds for charity.

The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival allows participants to raise funds for charity by selecting from one of the event’s official charities Osteoporosis Australia and Black Dog Institute or from the many supporting causes such as Diabetes Australia, The Heart Research Institute, Cure Cancer Australia (Can Too), Landcare, Cancer Council, Oasis Foundation and more. Participants can also nominate to raise funds for a charity of their own choice.

Participants registered to date have already committed to raising more than half a million dollars for various causes.
