Cowgirls Giddyup

Local girls have raised more than $7000 in their quest to become queen of the rodeo scene. Fallyn Petherick, 20, won the Rotary Club of Darwin North Rodeo's 2008 crown from a field of five. The Darwin-based hairdresser, who grew up in Nhulunbuy, has just leased her first horse and can't wait to rodeo.

She said her charity, the McGrath Foundation, was close to her heart. "I think we've all been touched by breast cancer and when I was asked to choose a charity I immediately thought of Jane McGrath," she said.
